About us
Meneer de Wit is a cultural business complex rooted in the former incubator ‘het Voorbeeld’ — a spontaneously formed, colourful melting pot of diverse creative activity in what is now the Sieraad building on Postjesweg. From 2005 onwards, with support from Stadsdeel West and Ymere, Meneer de Wit embarked on a path towards independence and creative entrepreneurship. For many years, Meneer de Wit was at the eye of the storm sweeping through De Baarsjes — a neighbourhood transforming from no-go area to trendy hotspot. Where entrepreneurs now compete for attractive business premises, Meneer de Wit initially received EU support to help revitalise the area into an appealing place to live and work.
Meneer de Wit manages 2,000 m², spread across 10 addresses and 20 studios on the corner of Baarsjesweg, Postjesweg and Witte de Withstraat. The spaces are rented to musicians, artists, theatre groups, craft entrepreneurs, music and dance schools, espressobar ‘Bo’s Deli’ and the acclaimed restaurant ‘Meneer de Wit heeft Honger’.

The kitchen of Meneer de Wit Heeft Honger is pure and robust, known for its refined yet bold flavors. Chef Simo draws inspiration from the food prepared by mothers around the Mediterranean. Dishes made with patience and love, using the finest herbs and spices. No perfectly measured, millimeter-precise cuts here—everything revolves around taste. The menu features many seasonal vegetable dishes, alongside sustainably sourced meat, poultry, and fresh fish, all meant to be shared.

Jan Bartelsman has specialized in culinary photography and film for over 25 years. He works with clients both in the Netherlands and internationally, and also publishes his own work. From promotional product photography and coffee table books with Michelin-star chefs to accessible cookbooks for home cooks. Jan Bartelsman sees every assignment as a challenge to achieve the very best.

Marloes Bomers
Marloes Bomers draws and paints both from perception and imagination. Her work emanates from her wonderment and fascination. She aims to appeal to the collective memory and invite the viewer to form new connections, moving thoughts back and forth between familiar and new places. She also organizes regular weekend workshops alongside her studio.

Vera Marijt
Vera Marijt (1989) is a young and up-and-coming professional jazz pianist from the Netherlands. She recorded her debut album Insight Out in Canada in 2015 and performs internationally with her trio, The Vera Marijt Trio.

Joris Titawano
Joris Titawano, better known as SirOJ, grew up in a music-rich environment and started piano lessons at age seven. During his teenage years, his passion shifted toward hip-hop, and at fourteen he began producing beats. It didn’t take long before he was producing for well-known artists such as Dio, Sef, Gers Pardoel, Jiggy Djé, and Kraantje Pappie.

Enrique Lopez Corton
As an orchestral conductor, Enrique has worked with orchestras such as Noord Nederlands Orkest, Nationaal Symfonisch Kamerorkest, Concerto d Amsterdam, and The Northern Consort. He is the founder and conductor of Capella Sancta Maria and Reina Lupa, and also conductor of the Amsterdam Bach Society.
